There are around 3,000 of us HKFoods employees in Finland and Poland. HKFoods’ operations have a significant employment impact both nationally and locally in our production locations. Competent, healthy personnel is one of the key focus areas of our strategy.
We take care of the wellbeing, safety and competence of our personnel in many ways. Our safety motto is Safety First. We invest in safety in everything we do – our goal is zero accidents. Achieving this requires determined work to reduce occupational accidents and sickness absences.
We promote proactive occupational safety and prevent accidents through safety training and regular communication. We also improve employees’ safety awareness through safety campaigns, developing onboarding practices, arranging occupational safety card trainings and encouraging employees to report safety observations. Accidents, near misses and safety observations are systematically reviewed, and based on them, we develop practices, processes and the working environment to make them safer.
Our goal is zero accidents. We are working systematically to reduce accidents and sickness-related absences.
Support for coping at work
We support our employees’ ability to cope at work through occupational health services, an age programme, rehabilitation courses, a self‑notification sickness absence practice, exercise benefits and a light‑duty work model. We offer flexible working hours and remote‑work opportunities, which help employees balance the demands of work and private life.
In Finland, in addition to the statutory services provided by an occupational health psychologist, our personnel have access to low‑threshold chat services and coaching programmes to support mental wellbeing.
We develop our work community based on the results of our employee survey
We take concrete actions to improve the wellbeing of our work community and the overall employee experience. We develop leadership practices, strengthen a well‑functioning work community, and support the wellbeing of every HKFoods employee.
We assess employees’ experiences and engagement through our employee survey. The survey provides us with valuable feedback on personnel wellbeing and the state of our work community, helping us plan development measures. Our goal is to jointly build an even better workplace and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to contribute to a positive working atmosphere.
Our personnel represent a wide range of ages and language backgrounds, and different types of employment contracts provide flexibility for various life and career situations. We are committed to promoting equal treatment and equal opportunities for all employees. HKFoods adheres to collective agreements in remuneration and strives for gender equality, and the company’s recruitment practices are non‑discriminatory.
