HKFoods' pork is produced on contract farms in Finland.
Finland is one of the pioneers in animal welfare. Animal welfare is governed by strict legislation and regulations, and biosecurity standards are high. In HKFoods' food chain, animals are treated with antibiotics only when they are ill, and only under the prescription and supervision of a veterinarian and in accordance with withdrawal periods. Therefore our products are always safe and antibiotic-free. The use of antibiotics and hormones as growth promoters is prohibited throughout the EU, but Finland and the other Nordic countries introduced national bans considerably earlier. The total use of antibiotics in our home markets is negligible by international standards. Salmonella status is excellent. Infections caused by Salmonella bacteria are a major public health problem around the world. The Nordic countries are an exception to this, where the situation has remained significantly better than in the rest of the world (Source: The Finnish Food Authority). Nordic pork is natural, healthy and tasty.
