Every member of the Group Executive Team has made their own personal commitment, in which they tell how we promise to promote the culture of safety and well-being at HKFoods.

Promoting safety and well-being at work is everyday work, carried out systematically in all our operating countries and all our units. We are part of each other’s work environment, and we all have an opportunity and responsibility to influence the direction in which we develop it.

We care about traffic safety
Improving safety at HKFoods is very important and close to my heart. I commit to promote and build a positive, proactive and safe traffic culture by setting an example and I expect the same from others.
My target is that all my colleagues get home safe and sound every day whether they travel by bike, by car or on foot. Traffic safety is our joint effort!
Juha Ruohola, CEO

We care for work-life balance
Work-life balance is important for our recovery. It’s easy to answer the phone and emails outside working hours. Working remotely from home has also increased, making it easy to let working hours slip and become unlimited.
Recovery in free time helps us disconnect from work - physically, temporally and mentally.
I’m committed to supporting a good work-life balance through proactive management that minimises work-related stimuli outside working hours.
Mika Tilli/CFO

We care for our values
Responsibility for work safety starts from the top management. A safe workplace is a result of the decisions and actions that we make together in good collaboration. HKFoods´ Code of Conduct as well as the Group and Business Unit level guidelines cover the key elements that ensure the physical and mental safety of us all. In addition, we are committed to respect national and EU level legislation in everything we do.
A safe workplace is everyday actions – yours and mine! I commit to promote our values: Inspire, Lead, Care and Deliver.
Markku Suvanto, EVP, Administration

Occupational safety and wellbeing are the foundation of everything
For me, safety and wellbeing at work are the foundation of everything—regardless of what we do or in what kind of work environment we operate. A safe and good workday doesn’t happen by chance; it requires continuous attention, responsibility, and collaboration.
Each of us has a duty to observe our surroundings, identify potential risks, and act to eliminate them. Whether it’s a production line, a yard area, an office, or being on the move, safety belongs to everyone and everywhere. We also all share the responsibility of promoting workplace wellbeing by being considerate of our colleagues, maintaining a positive atmosphere, and giving constructive, encouraging feedback.
I promise to lead by example and ensure that safety is always a priority—not just in words, but in actions. I want to foster a safety culture where everyone feels secure and well. I believe that continuous improvement, open dialogue, and active observation will guide us toward a workplace where everyone can return home in the same good condition as when they arrived.
Terhi Hakkarainen, EVP, Processed Food Business

Together towards a safe and high-performing work culture
I am firmly committed to building a work culture at HKFoods that emphasizes strong collaboration, effective performance, and occupational safety. I believe that open communication, mutual respect, and shared responsibility are key when we aim to strengthen and enhance the wellbeing of our work community.
My leadership is based on leading by example, continuous renewal, and valuing people. I want to create an atmosphere where everyone can feel that their work is meaningful and safe—and where collaboration is a natural part of everyday life. Goals are only achieved by working together. In the same way, we build a culture where wellbeing and safety are seamlessly integrated into our daily activities.
Petri Toivola, EVP, Poultry Business

An open atmosphere and interaction build wellbeing
I believe that every member of our staff deserves to be heard, seen, and valued as their authentic self. Workplace wellbeing stems from everyone having the opportunity to work safely, meaningfully, and in a way that utilizes their strengths.
I am committed to promoting openness, trust, and psychological safety—in everyday life, decision-making, and interactions. I want to create an atmosphere where people feel encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, and develop together. This is only possible when leadership is based on presence, listening, and taking responsibility.
HKFoods’ values—Inspire, Lead, Care, Take Responsibility—strongly guide my leadership. I promise to work every day to ensure that wellbeing at HKFoods thrives—together, safely, and with respect.
